The National Association of Primary Care (NAPC) has appointed Professor Andy Brooks as its new clinical chair, as of this month.

Professor Brooks, who is a GP, previously worked as a senior policy adviser in the system transformation team at NHS England that developed ICSs.
He is also a senior visiting fellow at The King’s Fund, a trustee of a hospice, and holds non-executive positions at an acute and a community provider.
Professor Brooks succeeds Dr Caroline Taylor, who has led the organisation since September 2021.
A spokesperson for the NAPC said: ‘Since joining the NAPC Faculty in July 2024, Professor Brooks has played an active role in advancing NAPC’s Neighbourhood initiatives nationwide, working closely with local systems.
‘His extensive experience and leadership will be instrumental in guiding NAPC’s clinical strategy forward.’
Dr Taylor will continue to contribute to the NAPC as part of the clinical faculty but will focus on the community health and wellbeing workers initiative.
It follows the news that the chief executive of NHS Confederation is to step down in April.
