Two new reproductive services clinics have opened in Oxfordshire, run by charity and reproductive services provider, MSI Reproductive Choices.

Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West ICB has commissioned MSI Reproductive Choices to deliver services in two previously vacant spaces: Woodfarm Health Centre and Chess Medical Centre.

MSI is to invest more than £500,000 to refurbish Woodfarm Health Centre, in partnership with NHS Property Services (NHSPS) who will also ‘deliver some of the improvements’, including installing new roof solar panels.

This measure will optimise energy consumption, with estimated yearly savings of 6,160 kWph, using a parameter of 1.83kW per year – equivalent to charging a smartphone once a day 3366 times or the same impact of planting 55 trees per year.

Kirsty Goddard, head of operations at MSI Reproductive Choices UK, said: ‘We’re pleased to be providing vital sexual and reproductive healthcare in Oxfordshire. These sites have enabled us to expand access to abortion and contraception services in the area – ensuring people can make an informed choice about their body and future.’

David Lloyd, senior estates manager at NHSPS, said: ‘We’re truly proud to announce this partnership. MSI have been a pleasure to work with throughout this transaction and mobilization.

‘It not only optimizes the use of available spaces in the facilities but also aligns with our commitment to deliver excellent patient care. By securing these leases, we’re supporting MSI’s valuable work while ensuring that our sites are utilized to their fullest potential.’

It comes as NHS Confederation said providing additional funding for women’s health services could provide a direct return on investment for the economy.
