Surrey Downs clinical commissioning group (CCG) has hired a new chief finance officer. 
Matthew Knight has previously worked in the software and services industry, in the UK and abroad. 
He is new to the NHS but brings experience in transforming financial service management. 
Knight said: “The scale of the NHS and the range of services delivered makes it one of the most diverse and interesting organisations in the world.

Knight said: “The scale of the NHS and the range of services delivered makes it one of the most diverse and interesting organisations in the world. 
"The NHS is in a critical time financially where now, more than ever, we need to make the best possible use of our resources so we can continue to deliver real improvements in patient care.  Working in the NHS is very different to working in a commercial organisation, but I am very much enjoying the new challenge.”
Karen Parsons, chief operating officer said: “We have ambitious plans for the year ahead, with a range of projects and initiatives that will further improve patient care for local people. Sound financial budgeting will be critical and Matthew’s vast experience will be invaluable in helping us achieve our goals."
