NHS England, with support from Public Health England, has invited clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) to identify development projects where they would like NHS support in creating health-promoting new towns and neighbourhoods in England.
Up to five long-term partnerships will initially be selected from across the country, from smaller projects up to those of over 10,000 homes.

NHS organisations, local authorities, and others have also been invited to submit their ideas via a two-page form available here, and entry will close on 30 September.
Simon Stevens, NHS England chief executive explained: “We are thinking about the slow burn, high impact choices we make as a country that we don’t notice over days and weeks, but over years you look at what’s been achieved and think ‘wow’.
“We want to develop places that make the possibilities real. There is nothing more powerful than a real world example,” he added.
The Healthy New Towns programme “aims to put health at the heart of new neighbourhoods” an NHS England release said, and to have a financial impact while delivering on key aims set out in the Five Year Forward View.
Responding to the announcement, Duncan Selbie, Public Health England chief executive said: “Everyone, wherever they are, should be able to live, work and enjoy a place that promotes health and wellbeing, sustains supportive and active communities, and helps close the gap in life expectancy that the better off areas experience today.”
