As many as 244 hospital beds in Lancashire and South Cumbria are currently occupied by patients confirmed to have Covid-19, the ICB has warned.

Of these, 239 patients are occupying acute medical meds, while the remaining five are occupying critical care beds.

The ICB has cautioned that the higher number for Covid patients is impacting its delivery of services across the footprint, and has urged the public get vaccinated.

Last month, Devon ICB issued a similar warning after data indicated the number of patients in its hospitals with Covid-19 was around five times higher than it was at the start of September.

The latest data shows as many as 54,914 people have tested positive with Covid in the week up to 15 October.
