Former director of the NHS Cooperation and Competition Panel (CCP) Andrew Taylor has been appointed chair of the new Provider Selection Regime (PSR) Independent Patient Choice and Procurement Panel.

The PSR came into force on 1 January this year and established a new set of rules for procuring healthcare services.

The rules provide greater transparency and flexibility for selecting providers, while the panel will help ensure the procurement processes remain proportionate.

Mr Taylor was director of the CCP – an independent advisory panel – from 2008 to 2011.

He then briefly worked for healthcare technology business McKesson Europe, before establishing Aldwych Partners. Here he advised several NHS trusts on merger reviews and procurement related matters.
