Five CCGs have announced a joint chief officer to cover the north central London area that has published regional plans to overhaul the local NHS.
Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington CCGs, which form part of the North Central London sustainability and transformation plan, have appointed Helen Peterson as chief officer and accountable officer designate.

Petterson was previously the managing director of North East London commissioning support unit and, according to a statement from Barnet CCG, has ‘significant experience in integrating health and social care services’.
The chairs of the five CCGs have ‘welcomed’ the appointment of Petterson, although a start date for her role has yet to be set.
Dr Debbie Frost, chair of Barnet CCG and a local GP, said she was ‘delighted’ to announce Petterson’s appointment.
She added: ‘She knows the challenges facing north central London’s health service well, and her wealth of knowledge, experience and skills will stand us in good stead as we continue with our ambitious plans to transform and commission the high quality NHS services that local people deserve.’
Helen Pettersen said: ‘I am very much looking forward to working closely with staff, partners and local people across the five boroughs in north central London to shape and build outstanding health and health care services for local people and communities that are fit for the future.’
Simon Stevens, chief executive of NHS England, told the organisations board last week that they are looking to begin a ‘formal appointment process’ for STP leaders, giving them ‘decision rights’ over trust and CCG ‘configuration or governance’.
