Entries have opened for the General Practice Awards 2026, with leaders from primary care, PCNs and practices invited to put themselves or colleagues forward for recognition.
The awards – organised by Healthcare Leader’s publisher Cogora – recognise achievement across general practice.
The awards include a wide range of categories from clinical care and innovation to leadership and teamwork, with the deadline for entries on 31 May 2026. More details about entering can be found here.
Last year, Dr Ishi Bains won the General Practitioner of the Year award, in recognition of her work improving access to women’s health services and leading the development of an integrated women’s health hub in Tower Hamlets.
The General Practice Team of the Year title was awarded to Modality East Surrey Medical Practice Team, for their work in delivering equitable access for all patients which involved redesigning an ‘inclusive’ front door for patients – both digital and non-digital – which vastly increased its capacity and access.
Last year’s PCN of the Year was Kentish Town South PCN, London, which was recognised for its data-driven approach to addressing health inequalities and its creative and arts-based activities used to engage vulnerable patient groups. Its work included the Complete Care Communities Programme and an in-house arts and health charity, with learning shared locally and internationally.
There is a wide range of awards open across the full breadth of primary care, meaning that readers can also nominate colleagues and teams working in nursing, reception, practice management, pharmacy, PCNs, workforce wellbeing, sustainability and clinical improvement, as well as supplier organisations supporting the sector.
Shortlisted entrants will be notified in early September. A gala dinner and awards ceremony – where the winners will be announced – will take place on 4 December at the Novotel London West.
Those wishing to enter can find more information and submit their nominations via the General Practice Awards website.
