The NHS Commissioning Board (NHS CB) is to launch a number of ‘learning sites’ across England in a bid to increase community involvement in commissioning.

The NHS CB, together with NAVCA (National Association of Voluntary and Community Action) and Social Enterprise UK (SEUK), are looking for up to 12 clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) to lead the sites.

Learning sites are expected to form a network across the country to develop and support best practice; enable local partners to innovate local solutions and to spread best practice among other CCGs.

CCGs taking part will be provided access to facilitated support and a bursary to develop their local approaches and partnerships.

Principal objectives for the ‘learning sites’ programme include: strengthening “trust and mutual understanding” between voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations and CCGs and enabling CCGs to “meaningfully engage” with patients, carers and their communities.
