Berkshire West clinical commissioning group (CCG) is the latest to develop a smartphone app which shows local people how best to access NHS services.
Based on the user’s current location, My Local NHS creates a map showing the nearest pharmacy, dentist or GP, minor injury units, walk in centres and A&E departments across the area.
The app offers advice on when to call NHS 111 versus 999, with a notes and reminder section to record appointments or symptoms.

A Polish language version called MY NHS has been developed following a local Healthwatch report which revealed the need to provide more information in Polish.
Reading GP and project board chair for NHS 111 Berkshire, Dr Andy Ciecierski, told Newbury Today: “Whether you are new to the area or have lived here for a while, it’s not always obvious who you should turn to for help.
“This innovative app will avoid unnecessary delay or stress by helping you quickly find the right NHS service.”
Doncaster CCG and Canterbury & Coastal CCG released patient signposting apps earlier this year.
