The chairman of Wyre Forest CCG has announced he will step down from his post come November.
Dr Simon Gates said he would not stand for re-election later this year because he may not have “enough energy to do the job well” in two or three years time.
He has worked with the group since 2009 and was elected in 2010.

Dr Gates joins a growing group of clinical commissioning chairs who have stepped down from the role.
He said: “In terms of organisational development, we have got exactly where we wanted, we are set up and functioning well. Now is the right time for a new person to come in to provide that next level of drive and take it in that direction rather than it becoming stale.
“We have done a lot of good things, including a lot of improvements in keeping people out of hospital, improvements in mental health care.”
There will not be an election, but the 12 GP practices represented by the CCG will give the successor a “formal mandate” when announced within the next few weeks.
Other CCG chairs who intend to leave their roles include regular The Commissioning Review contributor Dr Helen Tattersfield from Lewisham CCG, Dr Tony Banerjee from Hull CCG and Dr Raian Sheikh from Mansfield and Ashfield CCG.
