The chief executive of Frimley Integrated Care Board (ICB) has been appointed as NHS England regional director – North East and Yorkshire.

Fiona Edwards will be replaced by interim chief executive Sam Burrows on 1 April.

Ms Edwards said working with staff and partners across the Frimley system had been ‘one of the standout periods’ during her 30 years of healthcare leadership.

‘I am so proud of all we have achieved together and in particular, our strength in equality, diversity and inclusion and in optimising the benefits of working at scale across health and care. I have no doubt that the excellent work happening in Frimley will continue to make an impact for local people and partners,’ said Ms Edwards.

She added: ‘I am excited about a new challenge in the North East, and moving closer to my family.’

NHS Frimley chair, Dr Priya Singh, said Ms Edwards had shown outstanding leadership as Frimley ICB chief executive.

Dr Singh thanked her for ‘the exceptional role she has played in the creation and development of the Frimley Health and Care System as one of the best performing systems in the country’.

‘Fiona has led with integrity and kindness, building a strong team which is delivering on supporting the health of the people of Frimley,’ she said.
