Mid and South Essex integrated care board’s (ICB) chief executive has announced his intention to retire at the end of the year.

Anthony McKeever joined the mid and south Essex health system in 2020 as interim system lead, before applying to become the permanent chief executive of the ICB in July 2022

Mr McKeever has led a 48-year career in the health service, joining the NHS in 1987, formally working as a civil servant.

ICB chair professor Michael Thorne CBE said: ‘Under Mac’s leadership we have successfully set up the Integrated Care Board and have laid the foundations for genuine partnership working across our system. I want to thank him for his determination and hard work which has brought us so far. I have personally enjoyed working with Mac in every way and have benefited hugely from his years of experience in the health service. I wish him the very best for a well-earned retirement when it comes.’
