Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire ICS is offering ‘same day’ job offers to successful candidates who attend their March recruitment fair.

People will be able to sign up to ‘on the day’ job interviews for roles in primary, secondary social care and, if successful, will be granted a conditional job offer there and then.

According to the ICS, members of the public – namely, those who have had ‘a break from their career’ will be able to apply for jobs as healthcare assistants, nursing assistants, theatre support workers, and maternity support roles.

It comes after the ICB’s chief executive last week told Healthcare Leader that workforce was ‘undoubtedly the single biggest challenge’ facing the system.

Shane Devlin said that a high number of staff move jobs within the ICS, meaning fewer join the system, resulting in a ‘crippling agency spend’.

Speaking on the new job fair, Julie Bacon, the ICB’s interim chief people officer, said: ‘The recruitment event will see eligible candidates walk away with the prospect of a new job the very same day.’

She added: ‘We would like to meet anyone who is considering a career in health and care, or anyone who has had a break from their career and looking to get back into another role.’

ICS organisations attending the fair include Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust, North Bristol NHS Trust, University Hospitals Bristol and Weston Foundation Trust and Sirona care & health.

The ICB chief executive last week spoke to Healthcare Leader about the ICB’s approach to allocating funding to address deprivation, and how he believes health inequalities require a different approach.
