The primary care and clinical commissioning group allocations for 2015-2016 have been published by NHS England.

The allocations include the £1.98bn of additional funding for frontline health services that was announced in the Autumn Budget 2014. This will help kick-start the transformation of the NHS as outline in the Five Year Forward View.

Frontline health service will receive an injection of £1.5bn with local health service funding being allocated where regional services are under pressure.

Areas such as mental health and primary care will receive £480 million of extra funding and spending on GP services will grow – in real terms – at a higher rate than other healthcare services.

Following recent concerns with the provision of mental health care, CCGs will be expected to use extra funding to maintain or increase the level of service in mental health services. On a national scale £110 million will be invested into improving services for those with sever mental health problems, anxiety, depression and eating disorders – particularly in those who are children and adolescents.
