The party manifestos “have missed the opportunity” to support local GP leaders according to NHS Clinical Commissioners (NHSCC).

NHSCC Director Julie Wood said: “CCGs, led by local GPs and frontline clinicians, sit at the heart of their local communities, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to NHS leadership and decision making […] it was disappointing that all the manifestos missed the opportunity to support local doctors who are making a difference to the health services in their communities.”
However, NHSCC did welcome promises from those parties who have said they will fill the funding gap set out in NHS England’s Five Year Forward View andprovide adequate funding for health and social care.
“We believe NHS England’s Five Year Forward View, which emphasises the need for joint working, prevention and service improvement at the local level, sets the right direction for a stable and secure NHS of the future, and we would look to whoever forms the next government to commit to delivering against that plan,” said Wood.
It also said the next government must not re-organise the commissioning system.
