New CCGOIS indicators confirmed

An updated version of the CCG Outcomes Indicator Set (CCGOIS) has been released.

The CCGOIS is used to allow clear comparison in the quality of services commissioned by clinical commissioning groups and the associated health outcomes.

Seven new indicators have been published in the release. CCGs can now be compared based on:

 - CCG 1.17 Record of stage of cancer at diagnosis

 - CCG 1.8 Percentage of cancers detected at stage 1 and 2

 - CCG 1.20 Mortality from breast cancer in females

 - CCG 2.16 Health-related quality of life for people with a long-term mental health condition

 - CCG 4.2 Patient experience of hospital care

 - CCG 4.5 Responsiveness to Inpatient’s personal needs

 - CCG 5.1 Patient safety incidents

The document reads: "[The CCGOIS] help CCGs and health and wellbeing boards to understand where they may need to focus their efforts to improve services and outcomes."

The CCGOIS can also be used to identify areas with poor outcomes that require detailed investigation and to compare areas at an area team level as opposed to a national level.
