Guidance on acting transparently when commissioning has been released following an investigation into the way radiosurgery services were handled in Sheffield.
Late last year Thornbury Radiosurgery Centre filed an official complaint with Monitor because of how the North of England Specialised Commissioning Group (and its successor, NHS England) was procuring services.
However, the legal framework was changing over the time period of Thornbury’s complaint.

– Publishing details of all contracts awarded.
Monitor hopes the guidance will “assist commissioners facing similar circumstances… to ensure they secure high quality and efficient services that work well for patients”.
