Hull clinical commissioning group (CCG) has given a threatened swimming pool a £219,000 boost to keep it open until 2015.
The Ennerdale Leisure Centre pool would have been shut by next April as part of local council efforts to save £80 million by 2015.
Dr Dan Roper, interim chairman at the CCG, said the money would allow the council “breathing space” to consider the future of the pool.

Dr Dan Roper, interim chairman at the CCG, said the money would allow the council “breathing space” to consider the future of the pool.
He told the BBC: "The CCG and GPs have been saying for a long time that physical activity, social interaction and organised activities are good for people's mental, physical and social health.
"I have said to the council that we can't do this on a long-term basis, but we can do it over a period of a year until it becomes clearer what the picture is moving forward."
And Hull City Council leader Steve Brady said the funding would allow them more time to look at how best to provide leisure facilities.
